About Mount Merrion Pilates
Our Pilates Studio is located on the ground floor of our Mount Merrion Physiotherapy Clinic.
The clinic is owned and run by clinic principals Lorraine Carroll and Simon Coghlan and together with their carefully chosen team members strive to offer the highest levels of client care.
Pilates has become an integral part of our service promoting healthy and strong bodies.
We are delighted to introduce Paula and Tricia who lead our classes.
Katie completed her BSc Physiotherapy degree at University College Dublin (UCD) with second class honours, grade one. While attending UCD, Katie gained experience in the physiotherapy management of musculoskeletal injuries and neurological conditions, at both an acute and primary care level.
Other areas of experience for Katie included the physiotherapy management and rehabilitation of patients following orthopaedic surgical procedures as well as acute respiratory care. Katie also has a strong interest in paediatric physiotherapy, and has clinical experience in an acute paediatric hospital setting.
Katie also enjoys treating sports injuries and worked extensively with the UCD intermediate hurling team, providing match day and training cover.
Katie’s final year thesis was titled “Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Exercise for people with Chronic Pain: A Qualitative Analysis”. This allowed her to gain an insight into those suffering with chronic pain benefitted from the ACT programme in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital. Katie’s research was presented at the UCD Centre of Translational Pain Conference in May 2017.
Katie enjoys Pilates, running and going to the gym to keep fit.
Caroline qualified with an honours degree in Physiotherapy from Trinity College Dublin in 2010. Caroline has completed Postgraduate studies in Health Promotion: Workplace Wellness in National University College of Ireland Galway and is currently completing a Masters in Public Health in University College of Dublin.
After graduating she spent two years working in a large acute hospital in Singapore where she gained extensive experience treating a range of orthopaedic, musculoskeletal and sports conditions. Upon returning to Ireland, Caroline has worked in a busy private practice treating musculoskeletal and sports conditions. She has also spent a number of years working in the HSE Primary Care setting gaining experience in the areas of chronic pain, chronic disease management and health promotion.
Over the years Caroline has continued to develop her skills as a physiotherapist with many postgraduate courses such as Dry Needling, Explain Pain and Pilates. She trained as a STOTT Pilates Instructor while working in Singapore in 2011 and obtained her STOTT ante-natal Pilates training in Dublin in April 2018.
In her free time, Caroline is passionate about staying fit and healthy. She enjoys cycling, running and sea swimming.
